7th Annual Global Day of Action for Climate Justice

The Global Day of Action for Climate Justice (GDA) is a worldwide initiative hosted by Baroness Hale Legal Clinic at York Law School, which connects legal clinics to raise awareness of the climate emergency. In 2024, LSCA joined in to expand the initiative beyond clinics. This year's GDA, coinciding with COP30 in Brazil, will take place on 17 November and has the theme “Decarbonization: A Just Transition,” when students worldwide will plan actions and conduct research on the theme. LSCA is joining the GDA again to engage its international network of law students in actions aimed at moving the legal industry toward a just transition.

Join us for the World’s Longest Day of Action!

LSCA is organizing The World’s Longest Day of Action, a 25-hour virtual event spanning time zones by passing Zoom host privileges from one region to the next. This global gathering will bring together legal professionals and law students to call on the legal profession to play a meaningful role in a just transition. The event will include a letter-writing campaign, where participants send letters to their local professional regulators urging them to issue guidance on lawyers’ duties with regards to the climate crisis, particularly addressing conflicts of interest and obligations to the public, the courts, and the rule of law.
